More towards the interior of the province we find Cardona. This peculiar city belonging to the region of the Bages, offers us some interesting visits to its historical center that from the year 1992 is considered Good of cultural Interest. An old town full of history, a medieval village, where you will find all kinds of shops that offer autochthonous products and exquisite gastronomy.
Today you can visit the public area of the old salt mine, a journey through the depths 86 meters underground, which explains the geology of the mountain, the use of salt, flora and mineralogy.
Though perhaps the most popular part of Cardona is its castle. On your visit you can see the fortress area and the oldest parts of the county castle, the collegiate church of Sant Vicenç, the Miñona Tower, the Ducal courtyard and the bastions from where the castle itself was defended.
There are some routes that we can walk or mountain bike, such as the route of the salt mills. This route is a natural itinerary that follows the course of the river Cardener, where we will find three hydraulic mills of the time, where formerly the salt of the village was milled. In addition to this route, you can do others such as the path of the sanctuaries, that of the monks or the path of the border.
