Teresa Carles, delicious vegetarian food!
The name Teresa Carles is that of the Chef who owns the restaurant and is also the author of the book ¨La cocina del cielo, Recipes Vegetarianas¨. Since 1979 she and her husband are in charge of prestigious vegetarian restaurants such as ¨Paradís Lleida¨o ¨Boabab¨, the latter in Zaragoza. Teresa Carles did not open until 2011.
I love surprise lunches or dinners! Meeting someone and not knowing where they are going to take you is a lot of fun. Last Friday I met a friend and the restaurant chose her and I had no idea of anything, it was a surprise dinner :) !
When I wanted to notice I found myself in a place decorated in a functional way. What I liked the most is that the kitchen is visible only enter ... also you can see the fridge / counter where they keep all fresh food. I thought it was very original to see the product they are going to serve you at the table just enter through the door!
Once at the table we decided on three dishes to share and try several things. We both declared ourselves ¨fan¨de the croquettes so one of the dishes we ordered was an assortment of homemade croquettes. There were five: mushrooms, tofu, pumpkin, cheese and spinach. All delicious but especially the pumpkin, had a very pleasant taste and texture.
We continued with a new dish from the menu, a Ceviche. Made with coconut, mushrooms, avocado, pepper and onion. A very successful mixture. We continue with some gutters. As soon as I saw them on the menu they caught my attention: Canalón XXL with gírgola, boletus and shitake with truffled bechamel. Very good!
The desserts arrived, a delicious coulant with vanilla ice cream from Madagascar and a Wontoon pasta with strawberries and lemon mascarpone cream.
Coulant The chops lose me and if I see in the letter Steak Tartar I stop reading because it will be my almost sure choice. That's why I want you to believe me when I tell you that he's a vegetarian that everyone will like. The dishes are elaborated and you can see that they take care of the detail, besides having good raw material.
The surprise dinner turned out to be a success ;)
** The three dishes + two desserts + two glasses of wine cost 43 euros.
**From Monday to Friday there is a menu for 9,50
**There is a tasting menu for 25 euros (minimum 4 people)

Eating with sea views
It is always a pleasure to have lunch on the shores of the Mediterranean, something that can be easily achieved in Barcelona. One of the best options is the Barceloneta district, located in the Ciutat Vella district. There you will find establishments such as Can Solé (Sant Carles 4; Metro Barceloneta, L4), famous for serving one of the best rice dishes in the city, and El Agua, located next to the Olympic Port and specialising in all types of pasta, including tagliolini with prawns, fried garlic and chilli pepper.
In the heart of the Gothic Quarter
With a bohemian and family atmosphere, the restaurant Agut (Gignàs, 16; Metro Jaume I, L4) is one of the most recommendable in Barcelona to taste Catalan cuisine. Its fideuá and fish bouillabaisse are worth a try. In the same neighbourhood, the winery La Palma (La Palma de Sant Just, 7) is well known for its Catalan wines made from bota and certain cavas from the Penedès region. Its best dish is as simple as it is appetizing: the potato omelette with onion.
Near the Sagrada Familia
La yaya Amelia (Còrsega, 537; Metro Hospital Sant Pau, L5) is an excellent menu restaurant that bases its proposals on seasonal products and market cuisine. Its great speciality is codfish. A la vizcaína, a la crema de espinacas, al roquefort or in many other combinations that are always complemented by a wide range of wines.
A garden in Pedralbes
Whoever is looking for the latest trends in international cuisine has the option of going up to the upper part of the city, where you will find El Jardí de l'Abadessa (Abadessa Olzet, 26; Metro Reina Elisenda, Ferrocarriles Catalanes). It is an old sandwich shop that has become one of the most charismatic restaurants in Barcelona in recent years. One of its best dishes is fried brie with chutney sauce.
Dinners at the Eixample
This Barcelona neighbourhood has a large number of restaurants to dine in, but one of the most surprising and original is the Racó d'en Baltà (Aribau 125; Metro Diagonal, L5), which offers a whole explosion of colour thanks to its decoration from recycled products. A meeting point for night owls, its menu includes imaginative products such as marinated duck salad and shavings of foie gras with almond vinaigrette.
Exotic cuisine in the Raval
The Imprevist restaurant (Ferlandina, 34; Metro Catalunya, L3) was born with the aim of surprising its clients, although it is always a positive surprise, based on the quality of its stoves. Mediterranean, Asian, Indian and Lebanese dishes guarantee a suggestive dinner full of exoticism.
Pizzas in Sant Andreu
Another good solution for dinner in Barcelona is to bet on a pizzeria. One of the most recommended is L'Espurna (Pare Secchi, 21; Metro Sant Andreu, L1). In addition to its classic pizzas, it has a wide variety of salads and toasts.
Tapas in the old town
El Santa María (Comerç, 17; Metro Jaume I, L4) is one of those places that is always full to overflowing. In addition, it does not accept reservations at night, so it is always difficult to find a place to dine. But if you make it, it's worth it. Spiced chicken wings and cassava chips are among its specialties.
